Quanto aos fundos para esta curta, a ideia era tornar tudo muito simples, linear, desprovido de detalhes ou nuances, representando apenas os grandes volumes ou os volumes mais representativos. Uma vez que toda a acção se passa na praça principal da vila, todos os edifícios mais afastados serão representados de uma forma ainda mais esquemática. Para ajudar a perceber os volumes dos edifícios, as sombras próprias e projectadas são omnipresentes e bem vincadas remetendo-nos para um ambiente do sul da Europa, talvez mediterrânica, banhada por uma luz forte…
Regarding the backgrounds, the idea was to keep everything simple yet elegant.
No details, just the essential in order to work well. All events are taking place in the main square of the village, so the buildings in the far skyline were to be represented in the simplest way possible. But still, with all this simplicity we need to understand the volumes. So I choose to use strong, heavy shadows to sculpt the volumes. This would help to situate the story in a sunny place, maybe southern Europe, probably in a Mediterranean ambience…
